Details about our return.
Parking
Gym-based workout attendees should park in the lot outside Door #10. There is still considerable bleacher construction taking place, so please instruct our kids and fellow coaches not to park in the eastern area of our main lot.
Entrances
Enter through Door #10 located in the back parking lot.
Masks
EVERYONE is expected to wear a mask unless they are exercising or able to be a minimum of 6’ away from others.
Water
Each athlete is instructed to bring their own water. It is recommended that they bring an adequate amount so that they don’t need to refill throughout their time in the gym.
Check-in Process
Arrive 20 minutes early WITH YOUR GEAR ON.
No congregating.
Coaches need to check student-athletes in at the Entrance locations and not allow access to anyone prior to their questionnaire being verified.
Everyone attending a workout (student-athletes, coaches, managers, trainers and all athletic staff) on every day they are on campus MUST electronically answer the Health Questionnaire found in the following link: https://forms.gle/SdCpeMck323PAxUt8
Questionnaire takers will receive a confirming email that their response was received and it will be date stamped for them to show their coaches of their completion and acceptance for the workout they have arrived for.
ONLY those attendees that can produce their completed and dated email via their phone may practice/workout at that particular gathering.
If a student-athlete arrives with their athletic physical or other related documents, then have them turn those in to the Athletic Office set-up just inside Door #10.
Any unusual questions or uncertain answers should be directed to the Athletic Office personnel inside Door #10.
Cleaning/Disinfecting Expectation
ALL teams must clean their own equipment at the conclusion of each workout.
Wipes and disinfectant sprays will be available to each team.
The facilities basic items will be cleaned and disinfected each day prior to workouts by our maintenance staff.
Hand sanitizer gel will be widely available, and its use is expected.
Bathrooms
Gym attendees may use the ladies’ room in the front lobby, and mens’ room on the lower level from the lobby.
REMEMBER – no locker rooms are available until July 20th.
Weather Emergencies
When faced with a weather emergency, all teams need to proceed to the lower level hallway outside the Training Room.
Message from the BCHS Principal:
Dear Parents:
I am pleased to report that we are able to begin allowing our athletic teams to meet beginning on Monday, July 6. The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) has provided guidance to Indiana schools which includes a three-phased pathway for the return of education-based athletics. Over the next several weeks it is important for all members of the Bishop Chatard community to follow the guidance that has been communicated to you. The IHSAA will continue to serve our member schools in providing clarifications and further guidance for the safe return of athletic activities.
For your convenience Athletic Director Mr. Mike Ford has created a Bishop Chatard Athletics Return to Play Plan which outlines the three-phased pathway of return as well as guidance specific to our programs and campus. Please take some time to read this plan as it will answer most of your questions.
We have separated the paperwork into two specific sections as requirements vary from person to person. Please read through all of this information because there are new forms that have been added to the requirements needed for the ticket to play and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis has added a form.
Class of 2024 and New Athletes
· Freshmen athletes and new athletes are required to turn in an IHSAA pre-participation physical before the first official practice (8th grade physicals can’t be accepted).
· Freshmen athletes and new athletes must complete the online BCHS Athletic Eligibility Form - Part II. The above link allows you to do this electronically and it must be completed by Monday, July 6. All athletes from the same family may be entered on one form even if they aren't playing a fall sport.
· NEW REQUIREMENT: Freshman athletes and new athletes must complete a Student Health and Safety Plan required by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The above link allows you to do this electronically and it must be completed by Monday, July 6.
Returning Athletes
· Returning athletes are not required to turn in an IHSAA pre-participation physical form; however, ALL returning athletes are required to complete a 2020-21 IHSAA Health History Update Questionnaire and Consent & Release Certificate. Completed forms can be scanned and sent to Anne Harless at aharless@bishopchatard.org
· Returning athletes must fill out the online BCHS Athletic Eligibility Form- Part II. The above link allows you to do this electronically and it must be completed by Monday, July 6.
· NEW REQUIREMENT: Returning athletes must fill out a Student Health and Safety Plan required by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The above link allows you to do this electronically and it must be completed by Monday, July 6th.
Please make every effort to complete these tasks and turn them in by the proper deadline.
The Athletic Department will be hosting a Physicals Night on Tuesday, July 7, starting at 6 p.m. This will be by appointment only so you will need to sign up for a time slot on the sign-up genius BCHS Physicals for Ticket to Play. We will be providing a limited number of physicals, observing social distancing measures, and requiring that face masks be worn. Please do not attend if you are feeling sick.
In addition to Physical Night the Athletic Department has a REQUIRED COVID-19 Monitoring Form that should be completed by all coaches, players and administrators. This form must be filled out before every practice, training or any campus activity.
It is essential for the Bishop Chatard community to work together to prevent the introduction and spread of COVID-19 in the school environment and in the community. Bishop Chatard will make every effort to be proactive in recognizing the symptoms of COVID-19 and responding appropriately. It is important for students and coaches to stay home if they exhibit any of the following COVID-19-related symptoms:
A fever of 100.4° F or greater
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Chills
Repeated shaking with chills
Muscle pain
Headache
Sore throat
New loss of taste or smell
Congestion/runny nose
Nausea, vomiting
Diarrhea
Please contact Athletic Director Mike Ford if you have any clarifying questions. He can be reached at mford@bishopchatard.org or 317-251-1451, ext. 2256. I am also available for questions and can be reached at jhansen@bishopchatard.org or 317-251-1451, ext. 1900.
God Bless and Go Trojans!
